Partnerships are available with a number of local schools involved in a department outreach program called the Iowa Fitnessgram Initiative. Through supplemental service learning programming students can work with physical education teachers and school wellness leaders to help carry out fitness assessments and to learn skills in Comprehensive School Physical Activity Programming (CSPAP). School based programming is ideally suited for students interested in careers in Physical Education and it builds directly on skills learned through KIN 471. However, other students interested in careers targeting community-based programming for youth (e.g. YMCAs, Park and Recreation, Boys and Girls Clubs etc.) would benefit from the experiences.
