The Physical Activity and Health Promotion lab established a line of health coaching programming that provides students with training in ‘motivational interviewing’ and opportunities to gain personal experience in health coaching through supervised experiences both on campus and in the community. Programming on campus is coordinated through a coaching initiative called ‘CYdekicks’ that is managed through the ExerCYse outreach program. Programming in the community is managed through the Wellness Works outreach program with applications through both clinical partnerships and work site collaborations. Programming would provide valuable experiences for students interested in careers in health coaching as well as students interested in personal training or various pre-health applications focused on 1:1 patient applications (e.g. physical therapy, physician assistant etc.).
