I was responsible for...
Every day you are responsible for cleaning your space, the workout floor before anything is started. Once cleaning and organizing your areas you are either having sessions with clients or calling potential clients to create more sessions. At any point you are not training and do not have a list to call you are either cleaning again or helping other employees or handing out flyers at near by businesses.

I accomplished...
Over the internship I gathered the needed skills and experience to build large intellect with improved communication skills. Creating programs is easier than ever along with leading clients through a program built for them.

My most valuable effort...
The most valuable project I worked on during the internship was scheduling sessions and creating programs. The ability to make sessions and programs easy and efficient is a skill a professional trainer needs.

I learned...
Most valuable learning experience I encountered had to be the experience to job shadow both trainers and group fitness instructors. This helped me learn the different skills needed for both and how by doing both you are able to get more clients and build a larger need in the gym.

I will never forget...
The most memorable experience for me was during the first week when job shadowing a trainer. During the session he was pulled away to close a sale in the membership area and I was left in charge of a buddy session. By being left in charge of the rest of their session I got to finally feel how it feels like to be a trainer in that facility.

A surprising discovery...
The sales portion surprised me the most. The fact that it is not selling a product as much as it is selling yourself. After a few attempts at closing a sale I had to change my approach and making it that I had to build benefit of working with me while trying to lower the cost.

Advice for others...
Get some experience in sales prior to internship to build confidence in selling a product. That along with take a business course to understand the making of a sound business. You may work for a corporation but you are in charge of your own time and the amount of sessions you take in.

I reached out to the company in both email, phone call and talked with their current fitness manager in person.

It was close to home, allowed me to work my other part time jobs and allowed me to build my career in a more cost reducing manner.
