I was responsible for...
The job title for this internship is a Wellness Assistant. With this title the duties include but are not limited to, teaching exercise classes to residents (chair exercise, and aquatics). Filling up the pool and making sure that the pool deck is in good shape and clean is big responsibility that needs to be tended to each day. Every day is different and each day brings on new opportunities, residents depend on the help of the wellness department to assist residents in need of help with electronics (computers, televisions, ipod's, ipad's, etc.).

I accomplished...
My greatest accomplishment is designing and implementing the employee wellness program. This program is designed specifically for the employees at Scottish Rite Park, I gave a needs assessment to be able to gain a better understanding with what is needed for the employees. I broke it down in to what type of things interest them, what motivates them, what issues with their health that concern them, and their willingness to participate in a program. After this assessment I was able to take the results and create a program to cater to everyone's needs.

I learned...
I learned a lot about believing in myself. I had to be confident enough to present an incentive wellness program that I created to the CFO and CEO of the organization. I had to learn to be confident in choosing certain exercises to use for chair class as well as aquatic exercises. And I had to be confident enough to follow through with my ideas and decisions along the way.

Advice for others...
Advice that I would give a future students is to believe in your abilities and the knowledge that you acquired from your four year degree. There may be people who disagree with you or don't understand your motives so do your best to stick to your gut and do what you truly think is best for your clients and for the organization that you work for.
