Rossmann Manatt Lecture: Elizabeth Stegemöller on "Singing in Parkinson's Disease": 9:40-11 a.m., online via virtual format TBA - Elizabeth Stegemöller, associate professor in kinesiology and 2020 Rossmann Manatt Scholar, will share innovations in using singing as a new treatment strategy for persons with Parkinson's disease. Stegemöller's presentation will highlight recent research demonstrating the pervasive effect that singing has on both motor and non-motor symptoms in persons with Parkinson's. She also will provide initial evidence of possible underlying mechanisms. The presentation will include engaging examples and interactive experiences on how singing in Parkinson's works. The session will conclude with discussion on how collaborations with Human Sciences Extension and Outreach have helped expand this work. Open to the public, the presentation is offered in partnership by the Iowa State University Human Sciences Extension and Outreach as part of Professional Development Day.
