Lost and Found Barjche 2011

Lost and Found is a contemporary modern dance production inspired by the book about the true story of 28,800 rubber duckies lost at sea.

The evening length sectional show weaves in and out like ocean waves, starting from the moment the audience walks into the theater with sounds of waves, and clanging oars and masts.

The interlocking sections touch on topics of water, being lost, waste, and chasing into the unknown, as well as obsessions, like those of Captain Ahab and Donovan Hohn, author of Moby Duck while on their different searches at sea.

“A journey into the heart of the sea and adventures through science, myth, the global economy and stormy weather. Hohn’s accidental odyssey pulls him into the secretive world of shipping conglomerates, the daring work of Arctic researchers, the lunatic risks of maverick sailors, and the shadowy world of Chinese toy factories.” (Moby Duck, by Donovan Hohn.)

Under the artistic direction of Cynthia Adams the students of Orchesis I will present their original choreography for the company members. Included in the program will be Melt, choreographed by guest artist Kim Epifano visiting from San Francisco.
