Research Interests

My research interests are in the areas of volunteerism in youth sport organizations and sport events, coaching, and other issues related to youth sport participation.

Teaching

I teach courses in three areas: health-fitness management, community sport and recreation, and coaching. The courses I teach are:

Management of Health-Fitness Facilties and Programs Sport and Recreation Tourism Coaching Theory.

Service/Outreach/Professional Activity

I have directed the Iowa State University Summer Youth Fitness Program for 22 years. I originated the program in 1986 that provided fitness and sport related activities for children over an eight week span during June and July. Approximate 100-110 children participate each year.

I also am involved with an exchange program with the Malaysia National Olympic Academy. We send two students yearly to the academy session held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and in return host two students or sport administrators here at ISU every other year.

Personal Interests

I am an avid sailor and sail boat builder, as well as a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.
