Job Responsibilities

Advising

I advise approximately 300 undergraduates in the following career tracks: first year athletic training and physical education licensure students, community& public health, general studies, health & fitness management and exercise science. I work with freshmen, sophomore and junior students and assist them in adjusting to college, schedule planning, professional development activities and to meet graduation requirements.

Teaching

I co-teach a foundation class (ex sp 255) which includes orientation to Iowa State and our department and learning community activities.

Other Work

I coordinate the department's learning community and campus visits program and work with peer mentors and student ambassadors as they assist with new & prospective students.

Since I serve as the freshman advisor, I am the point person to assist students as they apply to the Honors Program.

I am the departmental liaison to Disability Resources and assist students and staff as necessary to facilitate academic accommodations.

I serve on the department's Evaluation, Scholarship & Awards, and Multicultural Outreach committees and various College committees that relate to services provided to undergraduate students.

Personal Interests

I love camping & fishing and my dog and I are on a mission to visit every state park in Iowa. My family raised horses when I was growing up and was very involved in rodeos and horse shows. I still attend every rodeo and bull riding event I can, and am excited that my younger family members are once again active in the horse world. I am also a huge reader and movie buff, so don't bet against me during trivia games with those categories.
