- What tips do you have for other people that are joining Honors?
Join; it's fun, it looks good on your resume and it gives you a lot of extra opportunities that other students here at ISU don't have. -Elizabeth

Do it; the benefits far outweigh the amount of work that you need to put in. It definitely looks great if you are continuing your education after earning your bachelor's degree. -Maggie
Do it! It's worth it because it's not a lot of extra work and there are so many fringe benefits. -Krista
- What are the Honors seminars like?
They are discussion-based classes with not many assignments or projects. They are very relaxed and informal. -Kelly
Most Honors seminars are discussion based. A small group allows for a more relaxed atmosphere where ideas and thoughts can be easily shared. -Lindsay
- What are Honors classes like?
They are a more interesting version of some of the more basic required classes you have to take. They are often smaller and more interactive and I've loved the ones I've taken. They aren't harder, just more interesting. -Krista
They are not very different from regular classes. One aspect of a project may be a little more involved. -Kelly
The honors class I took was English 105H and was fairly easy and I enjoyed working with all the other students in my class. -Rachel
- How did you come up with an idea for your project?
I talked with my project advisor and found an aspect of her research that she needed help with. -Kelly

- Did you find financing your project to be a problem? Why or why not?
No because the lab already had the equipment that I needed. -Lindsay
- Is the Honors project a lot of work?
Yes it is, but it's also very doable. -Kelly
Yes, but if had started earlier, then the work would have been spread out and not so overwhelming. -Lindsay
- Do you feel like you are doing a lot of extra work for Honors? If so, what makes it worthwhile for you?
I wouldn't consider it extra work, but rather more opportunities. It is up to the individual to seize the opportunities. Doing more will enrich the whole experience at Iowa State. -Lindsay
I don't think it's any more work than regular classes. Obviously once I start my Honors project that will take some time, but I plan on researching something I'm interested in so that will make it all worthwhile. -Krista

I have a great experience to put on my resume and I have gotten to know the faculty a lot better. -Kelly
I have met a lot of great people through this experience and I have better contact with my professors. -Rachel
I have found a great community of focused students like myself who are here at Iowa State to broaden their education. -Maggie
The Honors program gives you so many opportunities, it's amazing. Things like the mentor program are great experiences that you can't get anywhere else. I've been able to work with professors and I have learned so much. I've also become more certain about the career path I've chosen to follow because of opportunities like these. It's allowed me to get hands-on experience much sooner than I would have been able to otherwise. -Krista
