I was responsible for...
Throughout my internship I had a variety of different responsibilities. For the first few weeks I started out shadowing the other personal trainers to learn different teaching techniques, skills and exercises. Once I was more comfortable with teaching, I assisted with training both athletes and the general population, assist with team workouts, write and implement programs for different athletes and clients, take the athletes through testing and coach proper form of exercises. Aside from the training part, I also cleaned the facility, worked the front desk (sales, marketing, sign-up members, answer the phone, filing), and basically did anything else that was needed of me.

I accomplished...
My greatest accomplishment was getting offered a job at Elite after the completion of my internship.

I learned...
The greatest lesson I learned through my internship experience was a more functional style of training. I was always used to the regular exercises you see people at the gym and online doing. Functional exercises work the three planes of movement (sagittal, frontal and transverse) and are used to increase performance in similar movements done in athletics and daily living.

Advice for others...
Never stop learning! There's so much to learn and keep up with in this industry beyond your textbooks. During my internship I had to find one article a week that taught me something new and I found that there was still a lot of things that I still needed to learn.
