Clinical Instructor Added to Athletic Training Staff

The Department of Kinesiology is pleased to announce that Victor Miller’s role in the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) has been expanded. His new role includes the responsibility of supervision of all of the clinical experiences for students in the ATEP. Mr. Miller will continue as a lecturer within the program and to serve as the head trainer to the men’s basketball team, providing medical coverage and supervision of assigned student trainers. Mr. Miller describes his primary responsibilities as, “The organization, implementation and supervision of the clinical experiences for students in the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP), role of Lecturer within the ATEP, and medical coverage for ISU's men's basketball team”. In addition, Mr. Miller maintains a seat on the Professional and Scientific Council and has served as committee chair.
Mr. Miller earned his B.A. with an Athletic Training concentration from Purdue University (SLA '93), and his M.A. with a concentration in Sports Psychology, from the University of Minnesota. He became a certified athletic trainer in 1993 and earned a Performance Enhancement Specialization Certificate from the National Academy of Sports Medicine in 2003. He also earned a Corrective Exercise Specialization Certificate from the National Academy of Sports medicine in 2005.
Mr. Miller’s current job title is ISU Clinical Coordinator, Lecturer, and Assistant Director of Athletic Training Services. From 2002-2007, he worked as an ISU Assistant Director of Athletic Training Services and Lecturer. From 1995-2001, Mr. Miller served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Dayton, Dayton, OH, from 1997-2001, he served as Adjunct Faculty, Dept of Health and Sport Science University of Dayton, from 1993-1995 as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer, University of Minnesota, and in1992 was a Student Intern for the Indianapolis Colts.
Mr. Miller says, “The biggest part of my life is my family, wife Annemarie, and kids Jack (9) and Madeline (6). I enjoy scuba diving and snorkeling, running occasional Marathons and home improvement projects. I would like to improve on an already nationally renowned ATEP as well as initiate potential areas of research in conjunction with the Athletics Department”.
